Success as £25million pounds obtained in compensation for our injured clients

The clinical negligence department[1] at Sternberg Reed has had an exceptionally successful year in recovering more than £25million for some of our clients.

Despite 2020 being a particularly difficult year for everyone, having to adjust to living and working during the Coronavirus pandemic, the medical negligence team in our Barking office have been busy successfully working for members of the public who were injured in a clinical setting.

In 2020 a few of our high value cases (a result of very severe and life-long injures) have concluded leading to capitalised compensation in excess of £25m in total this year, so far.

Our clients suffered a range of negligently caused injuries, from short-term and limited problems due to, say, damage to a joint all the way through the range of injuries to those who suffered catastrophic injuries at birth (including a hypoxia brain injury usually leading to a hypoxia ischaemic encephalopathy) with lifelong injuries and consequences of a diagnosis of cerebral palsy.

In November 2020 one of our client’s wrote a glowing testimonial and said “The clinical negligence team led by my solicitor Dr Darren Conway acted very professionally, kept me updated and involved throughout the duration of my daughter’s case. With the help of Sternberg Reed Solicitors, my daughter successfully won her clinical negligence case for a brain injury.”[2]

The Head of the Medical Negligence team, Dr Darren Conway PhD, says “we try our best to help our clients through what can be a stressful process. We try to explain things in advance, answer questions and offer a steadying hand as each case progresses from an investigation of a potential claim into litigation. Obtaining answers and an explanation of what happened is the minimum we strive for, ultimately we seek compensation for our clients where the evidence points to negligently caused injuries. This year has been particularly successful and we hope to continue, even in a difficult environment.”

Members of the public who approach us for help usually tell us they have suffered injuries and losses due to a breach of duty of care by GPs, obstetricians, surgeons, medics, nurses, midwifes at different hospitals or practices and in the community. They age from the very young, neonatal, children, adults and up to the elderly and senior citizens.

At Sternberg Reed we are currently working with a range of people including families who are caring for children who have suffered negligently caused brain injuries. If you wish to discuss any concerns you have about any member of your family then please feel free to contact us. We are always happy to take some initial details and point you in the right directions.
